This thought-provoking conversation provides a deep dive into the complexities of being a man in today’s world.
AF: Do you think that as a society we’ve gotten into the habit of beating men down far too regularly?
JC: Yeah, I think that there is certainly an expectation of how we should act and how we should behave and, you know, we shouldn’t really talk about our problems. You know, and I’ve seen that first hand what can happen when that sort of bubbles up and you get enraged and you explode because you feel like you can’t find an outlet to discuss that problem or simply going down the gym hitting the bag or speaking to your barber can be, you know, an output for this. I certainly feel there’s a lot of pressure, yeah.
AF: We talk a lot about the way that women are objectified and they have these huge expectations placed upon them for how they should look, the perfection of the body. But men are under similar pressures too, aren’t they?
JC: Absolutely, I think, you know, on a social standpoint, you know, where you stand in society, who you know economically, you know, resources, we know that. But also image, you know, when I was on the show the other week, Alex, we discussed briefly about that, that also men do have the pressures of to look a certain way. I mean, but there’s some great resources out there. I’m personally getting my teeth done at the moment and I think that’s a great investment. But we can go a bit overboard and over the top with it all.
